UK performer, known for EastEnders spin-off and a Jason Statham film, faces life imprisonment after allegedly helping unpack 320kg of meth hidden in charcoal shipments from Ghana.
Australian authorities have charged British actress Emaa Hussen with attempting to import a massive haul of methamphetamine valued at nearly A$300 million, in one of the country’s largest drug busts linked to a high-profile figure.
Hussen, 34, appeared in a Sydney court on Thursday after police allege she was involved in a plot to smuggle 320 kilograms of the drug, concealed inside bags of charcoal shipped from Ghana and unloaded at Port Botany.
Alleged smuggling operation:
According to police, the consignment was delivered to a storage unit in Girraween, western Sydney, where Hussen is accused of helping unpack the drugs. She was later arrested at a home in Blacktown. Two other people-a couple from South Australia-have also been charged in connection with the importation.
The methamphetamine is estimated to be worth A$296 million on the street and could supply millions of individual deals. Australian Federal Police and Border Force described the operation as a significant blow to organised crime networks using West Africa as a transit point.
British Actress Faces Life Sentence Over Alleged Drug Import Case:
Hussen gained recognition more than a decade ago for playing the character Naz in the EastEnders spin-off E20. She also appeared in the 2013 Jason Statham action thriller Hummingbird (released in the US as Redemption).
The actress remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court again in August. The charge of attempting to import a commercial quantity of methamphetamine carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.
This case has drawn significant attention in both Australia and the UK, raising questions about port security and the use of everyday cargo like charcoal to conceal large-scale drug shipments.
