The achievement of a Pakistani cadet being named the best foreign military cadet highlights growing defence cooperation between Islamabad and Canberra, reflecting strong training ties, mutual trust, and expanding military-to-military relations between the two countries.
A Pakistan Army cadet has been recognised with the prestigious “Overall Best Foreign Military Cadet” award at Australia’s Royal Military College (RMC) Duntroon, underscoring the professionalism of Pakistani military training and the deepening defence cooperation between the two nations.
Cadet Sardar Arsam Abbas, from the Pakistan Military Academy’s 152 Long Course, received the honour during the passing-out parade held in Canberra on May 5. The award is given to the highest-performing foreign cadet across all aspects of military training, including leadership, academics, physical fitness and field skills.
Honour for outstanding performance:
According to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Abbas stood out among international cadets from various countries undergoing training at the elite Australian institution. He becomes the 14th Pakistani cadet to receive this distinction, reflecting the consistent high standards maintained by personnel from the Pakistan Military Academy.
The Australian High Commission in Pakistan also congratulated the cadet, describing the achievement as a reflection of the “strong and enduring partnership” between Australia and Pakistan.
In a statement, ISPR said the award “reflects the highest standards of professionalism, commitment and excellence demonstrated by the junior leadership of the Pakistan Army.”
Longstanding military cooperation:
Pakistan and Australia have maintained robust military-to-military ties for decades, with hundreds of Pakistani officers and cadets trained at Australian institutions under various exchange programmes. These collaborations cover areas ranging from counter-terrorism and peacekeeping to leadership development.
Defence analysts note that such international accolades not only boost the morale of the Pakistan Armed Forces but also enhance Pakistan’s image as a contributor of well-trained military professionals on the global stage.
Pakistani Cadet’s Achievement Brings National Pride:
The recognition comes at a time when Pakistan continues to play an active role in regional and international security frameworks, including UN peacekeeping missions. Pakistani troops are widely respected for their discipline and operational effectiveness in multinational environments.
Cadet Abbas’s success is being celebrated across Pakistan as a symbol of national pride and the quality of its military education system.
As he graduates and returns to serve in the Pakistan Army, his achievement is expected to inspire future generations of cadets pursuing excellence in international military training programmes.
