Gun violence erupts in nightlife districts, near college campuses and at gatherings from Texas to Delaware as celebrations turn deadly.

A wave of shootings over the Halloween weekend left multiple people dead and dozens injured across several US cities, with incidents reported in nightlife areas, near university campuses and at parties and public gatherings.

In Dallas, Texas, the deadliest cluster of violence occurred in the Deep Ellum entertainment district. Police said three separate shootings unfolded over roughly 75 minutes in the early hours of 1 November, killing at least four people and injuring 15 others. Authorities indicated the incidents did not appear to be connected. Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeaux noted that some victims transported themselves to hospitals and that casualty figures could still change.

In Birmingham, Alabama, one person was killed and eight others wounded in shootings near Legion Field following the annual Magic City Classic football game between Alabama A&M and Alabama State universities. The rivalry match, which drew nearly 70,000 fans, had ended earlier in the evening. Gunfire erupted in the vicinity where vendors were set up after most spectators had left the stadium grounds.

Multiple Halloween Shootings Leave Dead and Injured Across US:

Near the University of Delaware in Newark, six people-ranging in age from 15 to 21-were shot late on 31 October during a large gathering on East Main Street. All were taken to hospitals. Videos shared on social media showed people fleeing the scene, and a stretch of Main Street was closed for several hours.

In Bloomington, Illinois, a shooting early on 1 November near the Illinois Wesleyan University campus left a 19-year-old woman dead and another woman in critical condition. Six others sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Separate violence near the Indiana University campus in Bloomington, Indiana, injured at least seven people as crowds celebrated homecoming and Halloween.

Additional incidents included two shootings at Halloween parties in Jacksonville, Florida, that killed a 17-year-old girl and a 20-year-old man and injured at least 11 others. A shooting at a Spirit Halloween store in Fairfield, California, on 30 October killed a pregnant woman and wounded six others, with some victims in critical condition. Other shootings were reported near college areas in Arkansas, Colorado and elsewhere, as well as at nightclubs and gatherings in Mississippi and Michigan.

US Authorities Investigate Wave of Halloween Shootings:

Aggregated reports from police statements put the nationwide toll at least in the double digits for deaths and several dozen for injuries, though exact figures varied as investigations continued and some victims’ conditions remained fluid. Many of the attacks took place amid large crowds celebrating the holiday, homecoming events or football rivalries.

US gun violence has long been a persistent issue, particularly around major holidays when large public gatherings increase the risk of targeted or opportunistic attacks. Halloween has historically ranked among the more dangerous days for such incidents, according to criminologists analysing long-term data. Police in several cities had increased presence in entertainment districts in anticipation of crowds, yet the shootings still occurred.

Investigations remained active across the affected cities, with some suspects identified or detained and others still at large. No police officers were reported injured in the major incidents. Authorities continued to urge witnesses to come forward and cautioned the public about the ongoing risk of gun violence in crowded settings.
