Children ‘killed with American-made bombs’ as congresswoman demands end to US complicity amid ongoing Israeli military operations.
US Representative Rashida Tlaib has issued a fierce condemnation of Washington’s role in the ongoing violence in the Gaza Strip, accusing the United States of enabling “atrocious acts of ethnic cleansing” and insisting that American-made bombs continue to kill Palestinian children.
In a statement posted on the social media platform X on Sunday, the Michigan Democrat and only Palestinian American in Congress declared that “the genocide is still happening” and that “there was never a ceasefire.” She highlighted the particular suffering of minors, writing that children are “being killed with American-made bombs, and those that live are traumatized forever.”
Tlaib’s remarks came in response to reports of an Israeli raid on a preschool facility in Gaza that left approximately 200 young children trapped inside under active gunfire. She called on the US administration to “end its complicity in these atrocious acts of ethnic cleansing.”
Tlaib Condemns US Support for Israel:
The congresswoman’s comments reflect her long-standing criticism of American military support for Israel. Tlaib has repeatedly argued that US weapons transfers and diplomatic backing have allowed Israeli forces to carry out widespread destruction across the densely populated coastal enclave. According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, more than 73,000 Palestinians have been killed and over 174,000 injured since the escalation began, with extensive damage to civilian infrastructure including homes, schools, hospitals and places of worship.
A ceasefire agreement that took effect on 10 October 2025 has been repeatedly violated, Palestinian officials say. As of Saturday, Israeli actions since the truce had killed 1,369 Palestinians and wounded 4,627 others, according to the Health Ministry.
Tlaib has previously described US policy as providing a “blank check for war crimes and ethnic cleansing,” pointing to bombs and ammunition marked “Made in the USA” that she says extinguish the lives of Palestinian children. She has also led efforts in Congress to formally recognise Israel’s military campaign in Gaza as genocide and to halt further arms transfers.
Tlaib Calls for End to US Arms Support:
Critics of the US position argue that continued military aid and political cover at international forums have prolonged the suffering of Gaza’s civilian population, more than half of whom are children. Humanitarian organisations have documented the devastating impact of airstrikes and ground operations on residential areas, educational facilities and medical centres, contributing to what many describe as a profound humanitarian catastrophe.
Supporters of Israel maintain that its military actions target Hamas and other armed groups responsible for the 7 October 2023 attacks, and that civilian casualties result from the challenges of urban warfare in a densely populated territory where fighters operate among civilians. Washington has consistently framed its support as necessary for Israel’s security while occasionally expressing concern over the scale of civilian harm.
Tlaib, however, rejects such framing. For her and many Palestinian advocates, the continued supply of American weapons makes the United States an active participant rather than a bystander. She has urged lawmakers and the administration to uphold international legal obligations, including those under the Genocide Convention, by ending arms transfers and pursuing accountability.
As reports of further incidents involving civilians, including children, continue to emerge from Gaza, Tlaib’s call underscores a deepening rift within US politics over the country’s role in the conflict. For the congresswoman and those who share her view, the path forward requires an immediate end to what they see as American complicity in the displacement, destruction and loss of life that have marked the past years of war.
