Pakistani police have recovered three girls who were abducted from a village in Sindh’s Mirpurkhas district in what authorities describe as a revenge attack linked to an inter-caste love marriage that took place several months earlier.

The incident occurred on Monday in Sindhri town, in the village of Abu Bakar Junejo, when armed men allegedly stormed a house and kidnapped the three female relatives of a man named Imtiaz Mangnhar. Police said the abduction was carried out in retaliation after Mangnhar entered into a court marriage with a woman from the Mori community, which belongs to a different caste.

Three Girls Recovered in Sindh Abduction Case:

According to police officials, the girls-all relatives of Mangnhar-were taken by members of the opposing community. Local residents reported that the armed group attacked the village and forcibly took the young women before fleeing the scene. The abduction triggered panic in the area and raised fresh concerns about honour-based violence and caste tensions in rural Sindh.

Police launched a swift operation and announced on Tuesday that the three girls had been safely recovered. Authorities said the victims were found in relatively good condition and have been reunited with their families. Investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest the perpetrators.

Continued Caste and Honour Concerns:

Inter-caste and love marriages in conservative parts of Sindh often provoke strong backlash from families and communities, sometimes leading to violence, abductions, or honour killings. Rights activists have long highlighted how feudal structures, tribal customs, and rigid caste systems continue to restrict personal choices, particularly for women and young couples in rural Pakistan.

This case comes amid broader concerns over women’s safety and minority rights in Sindh, where forced conversions and abductions have frequently made headlines. Human rights groups regularly document cases where young women and girls face coercion in marriage-related disputes.

Police have registered a case against the abductors and vowed to bring those responsible to justice. No casualties were reported during the abduction or recovery operation.

Local political leaders and social activists have called for stricter action against honour-based crimes and greater protection for couples who choose their own partners across caste or community lines.
