Attacks on Kyiv, Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa and other regions damage homes, civilian buildings and infrastructure as war enters another winter.

Russian strikes across multiple regions of Ukraine have killed at least eight people, including a 16-year-old girl, Ukrainian authorities said on Sunday, as Moscow continued a sustained campaign of drone and missile attacks.

Russian Strikes Kill 8 Across Ukraine, Including Teenager:

Interior Minister Ivan Vyhivskyi reported that three people, among them a 16-year-old girl, were killed when Russian strikes hit a children’s centre in the northern city of Sumy. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said three others died in overnight attacks on the southern Zaporizhzhia region, while a Russian drone strike killed one man in the capital, Kyiv. Authorities in the Odesa region reported one further death from a “massive strike” in the south.

Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klitschko said a woman and two 16-year-olds were among those wounded and hospitalised in the capital. The city’s administration reported that 16 sites had been damaged in the Kyiv region, including 12 private houses on the outskirts, a warehouse and a production facility.

In Odesa, regional head Oleh Kiper said strikes damaged housing, a shop, a hotel, a medical building and a grain warehouse. Officials described the attacks as part of a broader pattern of strikes on civilian infrastructure as Ukraine prepares for another winter of war.

Ukraine Faces Intensified Russian Aerial Assaults:

Russia has intensified aerial assaults on Ukrainian cities in recent weeks, with Kyiv frequently targeted. Ukrainian officials accuse Moscow of deliberately striking civilian areas. Russia maintains that it targets military and energy infrastructure supporting Ukraine’s armed forces.

Zelenskyy said Russia had launched more than 2,200 attack drones, 1,630 aerial bombs and 38 missiles against Ukraine in the past week. “If Russia were truly preparing for any real steps towards de-escalation … this wave of Shahed terror would not be happening,” he said, referring to the Iranian-designed drones widely used by Russian forces.

The latest deaths come as Ukraine continues to urge greater international support for air defence systems amid the prolonged conflict, now in its fifth year. Emergency services remain engaged in rescue and recovery operations across the affected regions.
