Swift action by Dubai Police highlights efficiency of airport security and lost-and-found protocols in one of the world’s busiest hubs.
In a remarkable display of efficiency and integrity, Dubai Police reunited an Arab passenger with her lost bag containing $20,000 in cash and 150 grams of gold just minutes before her flight departed from Dubai International Airport.
The incident occurred at Terminal 1 of DXB, one of the world’s busiest international airports. According to officials, an airport employee discovered the unattended black bag in an open area and promptly reported it to security.
Upon inspection, authorities found the bag held $20,000 in US currency, approximately 150 grams of gold jewellery, foreign currencies, multiple mobile phones of various brands, and important personal documents.

Colonel Abdullah Faisal Al Dosari, Director of the Terminal 1 Security Department at Dubai Police, confirmed that a specialised team quickly traced the owner through security footage, passenger manifests, and documentation. The passenger, a Saudi woman preparing to board her flight home, was located inside the terminal.
She was reunited with her belongings after standard verification procedures were completed, allowing her to depart without further delay.
The woman reportedly had not yet realised the full extent of her loss when police approached her, as she was focused on catching her flight.
