Pakistan used only 10% of its military power against India during Marka-e-Haq: DG ISPR

Pakistan’s military spokesman says full capabilities remain untapped as country marks one-year anniversary of 2025 conflict with India.

Pakistan’s Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has stated that the country utilised only around 10 percent of its full military potential during last year’s armed confrontation with India, officially termed Marka-e-Haq.

Speaking during a press conference marking the first anniversary of the May 2025 clashes, Lt Gen Chaudhry said the response demonstrated by Pakistan’s armed forces represented just a fraction of its overall strength and resolve.

‘Measured and restrained’ response:

The DG ISPR emphasised that Pakistan’s military actions during the four-day escalation were “precise, proportionate, and remarkably restrained”, despite what he described as Indian aggression. He reiterated earlier statements that many advanced capabilities were deliberately held back and remain available for future contingencies.

“Marka-e-Haq was only a reflection of 10 percent of our power potential,” Lt Gen Chaudhry told reporters, flanked by senior officers from the Pakistan Air Force and Navy. The statement comes amid ongoing commemorations of what Pakistan portrays as a successful defence of its sovereignty that re-established deterrence.

2025 India-Pakistan Conflict and Ceasefire Overview:

The brief but intense conflict erupted in late April and early May 2025 following an attack in Indian-administered Kashmir. India launched airstrikes and drone swarms into Pakistani territory, prompting a robust Pakistani response under Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos, which included missile strikes on Indian military targets.

Pakistan claims to have downed multiple Indian aircraft and neutralised a large number of Israeli-made Harop drones, while limiting civilian casualties. The fighting ended in a ceasefire, with both sides claiming victory.

Pakistan Signals Military Deterrence and Capability:

Military analysts say the DG ISPR’s remarks serve as a clear signal of deterrence to India while boosting domestic morale on the anniversary. Pakistani officials have repeatedly highlighted the performance of indigenous weapons systems and improved joint operations between the army, air force, and navy during the clashes.

The statement also forms part of a broader narrative that Pakistan, despite being outnumbered in conventional spending, possesses sufficient asymmetric and conventional capabilities to respond effectively to any future threat.
