Arab MK Ayman Odeh’s forcible removal from Israel’s Knesset after calling PM Netanyahu a ‘serial killer of peace’ exposes deep divisions over Gaza war casualties and policies.

Ayman Odeh Ejected from Knesset Over Gaza War Critique:

In a tense Knesset session, Arab-Israeli lawmaker Ayman Odeh was forcibly ejected after delivering a blistering critique of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s handling of the Gaza war. Odeh, labeling Netanyahu a “serial killer of peace,” cited staggering casualty figures and questioned the government’s vision for resolution. The incident, captured on video, highlights the volatile debates within Israel’s legislature amid a war that has claimed tens of thousands of lives.

Ayman Odeh Ejected After Fiery Knesset Clash Over Gaza:

The confrontation unfolded during a rare Knesset address by Netanyahu, requested by 40 lawmakers to discuss the hostage crisis stemming, Hamas attacks. Netanyahu emphasized a strategy of “victory” to secure the hostages’ return, acknowledging U.S. support while stressing Israel’s need for independent capabilities. The session was marked by interruptions, with relatives of hostages present, holding photos and yellow ribbons-one even fainting from a hunger strike.

Odeh, speaking earlier, directly addressed Netanyahu, who was in attendance. He highlighted alleged Gaza casualties, stating, “There are 17,385 babies in Gaza which your system has killed, of those 825 are under the age of a year. There are 35,055 babies orphaned in Gaza. The blood of all of them will haunt you.” Odeh questioned Netanyahu’s vision, asking, “Benjamin Netanyahu, what is your vision?” and accused him of impudence amid International Criminal Court (ICC) scrutiny. He concluded by calling Netanyahu a “serial killer of peace” for three decades, impacting both Palestinians and Israelis.

The remarks drew immediate backlash. Far-right MKs shouted interruptions, and Speaker Amir Ohana ordered Odeh to step down. When Odeh refused, three ushers physically removed him from the podium. Video footage shows Odeh being dragged away while holding his notes, continuing to speak defiantly.

Odeh later recorded the remainder of his speech outside the chamber and posted it on social media, reiterating calls for peace, security, and justice for Arabs in the occupied territories. He declared, “The vision for life shall be triumphant upon the vision of blood that you hold.”

Veteran Arab Lawmaker Odeh Faces Knesset Ejection Over Gaza Conflict:

Ayman Odeh, 49, is a veteran politician and leader of Hadash-Ta’al, a left-wing alliance representing Israel’s Arab minority. His party advocates equality, peace, and a two-state solution. Odeh has often criticized Israeli policies toward Palestinians, clashing with the right-wing coalition.

The recent ejection occurred amid the Gaza war, sparked by Hamas’s, attack that killed 1,200 Israelis and took 250 hostages. Israel’s response caused widespread destruction in Gaza, with over 72,000 deaths and 171,000 injuries reported by March 2026. Odeh referenced figures from Gaza and ICC arrest warrants issued in November 2024 for Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant over alleged war crimes.

Odeh has faced previous ejections and sanctions in the Knesset, including a two-week suspension in July 2025 and an attempted expulsion in June 2025. Critics accuse him of sympathizing with Israel’s enemies, which he frames as a pro-peace stance. The ongoing conflict has displaced nearly all of Gaza’s 2.3 million residents.
